We get a lot of calls from merchants telling us they’d like to get setup to accept EBT cards at their stores. That makes a lot of sense seeing that the USDA reported that there were approximately 46.5 million Americans who were recipients of the benefits. It’s always a smart option to never turn away any customer due to unaccepted payment types.

Accepting EBT cards first begins with making sure your store is authorized to do so. Retailers can apply to accept EBT by going to the USDA website and completing an application to the Food and Nutrition Service found here. After approval, the next and last step you’ll want to take is to contact your merchant service provider. They will help you program your terminal to be able to accept EBT.

The team here at Group ISO is happy to help merchants setup processing to help enable you to accept EBT cards. Give us a call with any questions at 800-722-4476.
